In Redgranite, Mrs. Christians' 4K had fun learning about Thanksgiving and sharing what we are all thankful for. We ended our day with a Thanksgiving Feast!
Last week Kindergarten and 5th students buddied up and created turkeys! We are so thankful and grateful to be able to build relationships between our older and younger students like this.
The WASD nutrition program has been utilizing LFS grant funds. This DPI grant has allowed us to put more local, fresh produce on the menu each and every day. Today, students were able to get roasted fresh locally grown vegetables in addition to the menu items that were served today. Tomorrow, they will be offered sautéed fresh white mushrooms to top their beef bites!

The Riverview Character Education Committee presents November’s Community Character Award to the Wautoma SuperStingers Youth Wrestling Program for Empathy!
Empathy in wrestling is very important. Coaches use empathy when they are talking with an athlete during practice, before matches, and after their matches. It is important for coaches to remember that the wrestlers have feelings, too.
Athletes spend a lot of time trying to get better and work very hard at this sport so, sometimes emotions can feel very strong. At times, it is easy to get upset if the match doesn’t go the way the wrestler or coach wants it to go. This is why empathy is so important. Wrestling coaches and wrestlers show empathy for both athletes on the mat, understanding that the athlete who won will feel proud and the athlete who didn’t win may feel discouraged. It’s okay to feel what you feel, but it is also important to understand how the other athletes and coaches feel, too.
Thank you Wautoma Youth Wrestling Super Stinger Coaches for showing empathy on and off the mat.
Congratulations!
Earlier today, Fox Valley Technical College Wautoma Regional Center Manager Mandy Mayek and Wautoma Area School District Administrator Jewel Mucklin volunteered to ring the Salvation Army Bells for the annual Red Kettle Campaign. Throughout the next two months, community members from a variety of different groups will be showing their support by ringing the bell at the local grocery stores.
Members of the weekly workout group Fit Friends for Life stopped by Riverview Elementary this morning to drop off some clothing items for students in need. Thank you so much for your generous donation!
Members of Girl Scout Junior Level Troop 6065 opened their hearts this November to help families in need in their community. In order to earn badges the girls decided to support the 14th Annual Pajama Drive that is hosted by the Wautoma Area School District.
The girls chose to use $225 of the money they earned from selling cookies to purchase 20 new sets of pajamas. Addison Walbrun, Maya Bray, Katelyn Bushweiler and Kylie Putskey are pictured holding up the brand-new sets of pajamas they purchased.
The Girls Scout’s generous donation will help spread holiday cheer to many families in our community. These young ladies are leaders and they are a true representation of the positive things our youth are doing throughout the community.
Congratulations!
Third graders at Redgranite Elementary were excited to help kick off the district-wide PJ Drive on Monday, November 6. The donations have been pouring in and we are so grateful for all those who have donated so far! Remember, if you would like to donate, please drop your donations in the front office of any school located in the Wautoma Area School District. Thanks for your continued support with this community service project.
