As part of Character Day in the Wautoma Area School District, the 8th grade students at Parkside School wrote cards and assembled packages for deployed soldiers. Included in the packages are 200 beef sticks donated by StoneRidge Piggly Wiggly of Wautoma. We appreciate StoneRidge's generosity in helping our students show appreciation to our US soldiers stationed overseas.

I nominate Carol Medlin for Redgranite’s Student of the Month.
Carol joined our school this year and is a wonderful addition to the class. Carol easily transitioned into the first grade classroom family with her bright personality and her go with the flow attitude. In addition, Carol inhabits many of the character traits essential for life. Carol is responsible. She takes care of her supplies, she is a good listener and a hard worker who follows directions quickly. Carol is respectful. She uses polite words and treats her classmates well. Carol is easy to get along with and has a bright smile for her classmates. Carol shows leadership in the classroom with her positive actions. She sits on the carpet, she stands in line and organizes lines when the students get their book kinds, math supplies or chromebooks. Carol shows determination and always does the best she can on tests and assignments. Carol takes her time and does careful work. She has a growth mindset. Carol knows when something is difficult, it is not time to give up. She knows she might not know something yet, but with hard work she will be able to do anything she puts her mind to.
It is for these reasons that I nominate Carol Medlin for September Student of the Month.

The mission of the Redgranite Student Council is to spread kindness. This year the students are helping spread kindness by decorating a table in the cafeteria for those celebrating birthdays. The student council members also wrote out birthday cards for the students who celebrated birthdays during the month of September. The students that celebrated September birthdays enjoyed the opportunity to share their special day with their classmates.

Yesterday, Mrs. Sluke’s Rock Climbing Physical Education Class traveled around Wautoma on their bikes to go geocaching. The group found a couple hidden geocaches in town. Pictured are the students behind the World War II Memorial Building and Public Library after they found a hidden Geocache. According to Mrs. Sluke, there are actually several Geocaches hidden in the Wautoma Area.

Tadeo is a very kind student that exhibits all of the character traits on a daily basis. He is nice to all of his classmates and helps them whenever he can. He is also very respectful to teachers and always does what is asked of him.
Tadeo works very hard in all subjects even when something is challenging, and always makes responsible choices even when others do not.
It is for all these reasons and more that the 3rd grade team thinks Tadeo is the perfect student to receive the honor of student of the month.
