Riverview, Redgranite and the high school roasted golden organic rough cut fresh vegetables. The roasted vegetable mixed included butternut squash, sweet potatoes, organic red beets, chioggia beets, daikon radishes, carrots, turnups, rutabaga, fresh roasted garlic, fresh rosemary and parsley. These vegetables were all locally grown at Olden Organic Farms in Ripon, WI! The students have been choosing these vegetables over the other vegetables on the menu such as steamed green beans!

Our lunch program continues to grow and offer more fresh and locally grown items onto our menus each day! Today, Parkside had roasted fresh brussels sprouts with fresh cut roasted garlic, dill and pepper! The salad bar had fresh portabella mushrooms, beet sticks, yam sticks, colored carrots, fresh unsweetened cranberries and more! All of these items are locally sourced right here in Wisconsin and as close as Ripon! Parkside is not the only school offering all these choices! Look for more post that feature these items from all of our WASD kitchens!

Parkside Sixth Grade Language Arts Students are learning a new way to have a discussion. It is called a spider web discussion. While reading the novel Alone, students were given guiding opinion questions regarding the motivations of the main character. During the spider web discussion, the students discussed their opinions adding to what others said, asking deeper questions and using text evidence to back up their opinions during the discussion. They did a great job!

After our 14th annual Pajama Drive, we would like to send a heart-felt thank you to everyone for their generous donations! Thank you for opening your hearts this holiday season. Your kindness and generosity helped us surpass last year's total. This year we collected $1,023.00 in monetary donations. When all donations were counted and the money was spent to purchase new pajamas, we collected a grand total of 275 sets! We also received a donation of handmade blankets.
Yesterday, third grade students at Redgranite Elementary helped count, sort, and box pajamas. The Holiday Project is excited to receive the cozy pajamas and blankets. We are so happy to be helping so many families this holiday season! Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community.
