The WASD food service program has offered many new fresh and local food options this school year to our menu utilizing LFS (Local Food for Schools) grant funds to enrich the school meal programs. Working with the Wisconsin Food Hub out of Waupaca, Some of the things the students have enjoyed recently have been zucchini, butternut squash and beet noodles, rutabaga and beet sticks, mushrooms, roasted vegetable mix, lettuce mix, apples, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, rosemary, basil, garlic and onions. The Wisconsin Food Hub (WFHC) is a farmer-led cooperative owned by the producers and the Wisconsin Farmers Union. The WFHC makes it easy to buy local fresh organic fruits, vegetables and dairy products. We have added many new items to our salad bars and serving lines at all of our schools in our district.
Congrats, Addison!
The Redgranite Student Council has been partnering with Preston Place this year. The students have enjoyed visiting the residents and spreading cheer. Last week, residents and students enjoyed reading spring themed books aloud, coloring, and playing an activity. We are so happy to be able to bring some smiles and laughter to the residents of Preston Place.
The WHS Science Olympiad team visited UWSP today to explore the campus and participate in fun activities in preparation for their State Competition tomorrow.
Congratulations to the five Riverview artists whose artwork was selected for this year's Youth Art Month celebrations! During the month of February, these five students from Mrs. Miller's art classes had their work displayed at the regional show. Three were then chosen to have their artwork move on to the state show in Madison. Much gratitude goes out to the Wisconsin Art Education Association's Youth Art Month committee members for organizing these opportunities for our state's young artists.

The Worryless Worry Monster project is in full swing in Mrs. Gill's Child Development class. The class just finished up talking about the importance of Social Development and how we can help build confidence in younger children. The high school students are going to design a handful of Monsters, with a pocket, for all of the kindergarteners in the district. Upon delivery the high school students will talk to the younger students about putting their "worry" in the pocket allowing the Monster to do the worrying instead of the student. Redgranite is up first - stay tuned.
